We get
a number of emails and phone calls each month
from students interested in pursuing a career
in scenic art.
Most have completed a degree in Fine Art, Theatre Design or in another area of the arts, but don't have the skills needed to look for work as a scenic artist.
In 2009 Dap Studio launched a two week course in Scenic Painting and created the Scenic Painters website to showcase it. The course allows students to explore the subject and see if scenic painting is for them. We now offer a three week course in the Summer and a two week course in the winter. There are also one day courses aimed at amateur groups.
The course are not designed to produce fully-fledged scenic artists. It takes time to learn all aspects of the job and this cannot be done in a couple of weeks. However, several students have gone on to work in the industry. Please click here for more information.
